Heavy Equipment Mechanic

We are actively searching for a heavy construction equipment mechanic to perform routine repair and maintenance on mechanical and hydraulic equipment, such as cranes, excavators and attachments, skid steers, forklifts, work platforms, trucks, and other construction equipment and tools.

Salary: Non-exempt hourly pay

            Entry Level Experience: $16+/ hour plus benefits

            Average Experience: $23+/ hour plus benefits

            Experienced: $29+/ hour plus benefits

 

Responsibilities:

  • Hold everyone to the Pheifer Foundations.

  • Repair and replace damaged or worn parts on construction equipment.

  • Dismantle and reassemble heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools.

  • Operate and inspect machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects.

  • Test mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturers' specifications.

  • Clean, lubricate, and perform other routine maintenance work on equipment.

  • Read and understand operating manuals, blueprints, and technical drawings.

  • Overhaul and test machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency.

  • Maintenance of trucks, equipment, and small operating equipment

  • Diagnose faults or malfunctions to determine required repairs.

  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, using micrometers and gauges.

  • Diagnose small tool damage and suggest repairs.

  • Track and record inspections, logs, repairs, and inventory.

  • Other shop and equipment tasks as needed.


Educational and Other Requirements:

  • High school education or equivalent.

  • 3 + years’ experience with diesel technology, electric motors and small equipment preferred.

  • Must possess the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Must be knowledgeable of safety practices and procedures.

  • Must possess ability to work independently and as a member of a team.

FOREMAN / Crew leader

2,000 signing and referral bonus after 600 hours. 

Salary: Hourly position

Job Duties:

  • Holding everyone to the Pheifer Foundations.

  • Monitoring project schedules and labor budgets and ability to communicate the schedule.

  • Planning, scheduling, and producing day-to-day onsite operations.

  • Solving obstacles when encountered, and implementing strategies for reaching milestones.

  • Work as a team to achieve company goals.

  • Be a respectful leader and interact professionally.

  • Enforce company safety policies, quality standards, and other company policies.

  • Supervise training and development for new hires.

  • Understand heavy highway, and civil structures blueprints and standard drawings

  • Motivate everyone to be their very best.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience pile driving operations, concrete forming and concrete placement, placement of reinforcing steel, placement of structural steel, and setting pre-stressed concrete beams.

  • Experience in plan reading and basic math.

  • Experience in basic surveying and layout using auto-level and/or total station.

  • High School Diploma or GED.

  • Moderate level of smartphone/tablet skills.

  • Experience with WisDOT.

  • Geographic work area is Wisconsin.

  • Move throughout a construction job-site, climbing ladders and inclines, lifting up to 100 pounds.

  • Work outdoors with exposure to changing weather conditions.

  • Drug free workforce, pre-employment drug screening, and background checks.

  • Must have a valid drivers license and insurable driving record.
